In no particular order.

Bottle jack
a good flashlight
phillips and common point screwdrivers
combination wrenches (3/8-5/8)
3/8 and 1/4"drive ratchets
sockets (3/8-5/8)
several ratchet extensions
vise grips
cutting pliers
regular pliers
adjustable wrench
some people like to have a multimeter
leather work gloves
quart of oil
can of tire inflator goop (I know the tire guys hate this stuff but it has saved me from walking more than once)
cell phone

You can just about take a Mustang apart with a 7/16,1/2 and 9/16 wrenches and sockets.

Oh well, I'm sure other people will have some additions.

I'm from Iowa. All you need is duct tape and bailing wire. I also have a nice heavy duty tow strap to pull Chevys out of the ditches with.
