The only reason you'll need a Monte Carlo bar is if you like something interfering w/ accessing the dist & engine and having ti drill holes in the fender apron. If you have an export brace, you've accomplished the same idea, without the inconvenience. if you've ever had to do work on an engine and have had to keep r&r'ing the monte carlo bar, it becomes history real fast.

John,
It depends on how you drive more than horsepower. I hate to differ from Ponydoc but if this was good enough for Shelby's it's good enough for me
As far as finding one it seems evry Mustang parts vendor carries these, and one other thing install a Pertronix unit and you won't have to work on that distributor so much!

CLARK,
Have already ordered the petronix unit , coil and leads. I also go along with the shelby-man, I also like the way it looks on the car.

thnx.....JOHN.....

You can always get the curved one. Doesn't get in the way of anything.

Hello,

I have to disagree with the quote below. The bar is there to prevent unwanted chassis flex. I believe it is an "active" part and will help you rather than "just get in the way". This is my opinion. Also, you were INQUIRING about getting one, not asking if it's good to have or if it gets in the way. Get one and make yourself happy! They're between $20-$50 brand new from your favorite parts catalog.

Thanks for the reply Rockafellz, I will be getting one for my car, I also think that it will be a curved one for easier access to my distributor , but , is the straight one stronger than the curved one ? If anybody can help me with this answer It would be great.

thnx.....JOHN.....

The curved one I have, which I believe I got it from Mustangs Unlimited, was plenty stout and I don't think it will be bending any time soon. The inner fenders would buckle before this thing.

I will be getting the curved chrome monte carlo bar for my 65 fastback.I was told by " BIG D " that this is a great website, he sure was right. I will be asking for a ton of input over the next year or so, I hope I don,t wear out my welcome or become to bothersom.
