Hello guys

I was thinking on changing my ignition system to a duraspark. I wanted to buy everything new (Distributor, Module, cap, rotor, wires) from a parts store and I was hoping to get a parts list from you guys that already have one installed. I have read post how to put it together; I know that I will need to go to the junk yard to pickup the wire harness. What I would like is the description on what car parts I should ask for that would fit my car( year model engine etc.). Im hoping someone could take the time, describe it step by step and adding it to the archives, maybe in the same manner Moneymaker did his with the 300hp engine . I read most of the posts but Im having difficult time getting a parts list. So if some could do this and add it to the archives since this is a common upgrade maybe more of us could change over to a Duraspark ignition. I have a 68 with a 289 and a C4 auto. This way I can just walk in the store and ask them for parts that would fit my car.

Thanks

Rafael

ask for anything after 76. like a 76 ford mustang with a 289 auto. cap, rotor, distributer, you dont need a ignition module if you can use msd. you can use the msd box as the ignition box, so then you wouldnt really need the wiring harness. up to you. plugs and wires, is all you would need.

Dont mean to be picky, but if you ask for a 76 mustang with a 289 you will probably have a very confused parts store clerk... they quit making 289 engines in mustangs in 1968. Ask for a 302 distributor with the magnetic pickup. If you get a regular duraspark distributor the cap and wires wont change, just the distributor and module...
