Hi All,

I'm to the point that I bolt the lowering template up and drill the new 17/32" holes for my 66 coupe.

Problem is that my existing A-Arm bolt holes are a good 1/8" or so farther apart than the template..???...the template is too narrow (or my bolt holes are too far apart)...

Has anyone ever ran into this? At first, I thought that maybe the printed out version of this template was not to scale. But this wasn't the case because I compared this to another template that was mailed to me from Mustangs Plus or some vendor like that. Then I made sure that it was not the template for the 67-70.

Can anyone help?

Were did you get the template.

Alot of times when people just download a template off the internet the scale is wrong. Have you sanity checked your paper template to make sure it even moves the holes down a full inch and back the appropiate 1/8 inch?

yeah, down 1 inch and over 1/8" perfectly.

one template came from Mustangs Plus I believe and one from someone on this forum.

so, i have no idea what the problem is. hope someone else knows.

let me ask this question for those who have done it. when you take the a-arm off do you actually see three holes? not just two...

two for the a-arm bolts and one hole directly in the middle of those two?

dodgestang,

did you notice that the two existing holes are wider than the template itself? thanks for the picture. that answers one concern of mine.

I had trouble with the template being the correct size. You know what the specs are supposed to be 1 inch down and 1/8 back measured from the center of the hole to the center of the hole...if you can't get a template that works for you just make your own.

I heard you need to use wedge plates to make to drop work. I was told that if you do not, the ball joints bind.

Any input?

I believe you do not need the wedge kit provided that you stay with the 1". Further than that 1.75" or so requires the kit; caused by the binding.

you heard wrong hellfish

You only need a wedge if you go beyond the 1 inch shelby drop. The actual OPTIMIZED location is 1.75 down....but that takes money, the shelby drop improves the total feel and steering of the car and costs nothing more than your time and alignment once you are done.

I run the 1 inch shelby drop, 1 inch 620 drop springs and I have no binding issues.

I figured out my problem. I had to print a template out directly from CAD in order for the measurements to be dead-on-a-gnats-A$$; bolts right up to tower and A Arms. I also had the CAD print out physically faxed and guess what... The dimensions were distorted electronically and now match exactly what I downloaded off the internet (the one that was about 1/8" too narrow). Apparently, the perfect template to get is one you print off AutoCAD yourself (1 to 1 scale) or one that a machine shop can make.

What is the trick to get the UCA nuts loose with a engine and exhaust bolted in?

Open end Wrench.

If I can take my UCA nuts in and out with this motor in place:

You can do it with what ever motor you have in the car
