I just got done rebuilding my whole front suspension (steering, upper and lower control arms, 620 coils). I notice that the passenger side sits about 3/4" higher than the drivers side. Also, my steering wheel is not straight when I straighten out the tires, it seems like its turned to one side (I converted to manual steering using the adapter BTW). The car has not been in an accident since I got it about 14 years ago. Will an alignment solve all these problems? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know about the passenger side being higher than the drivers side, but if you didn't remove the steering wheel for some reason and put it back on wrong, then an alignment should straighten it out. also, did you have the pitman arm off? could be you are off center when you re-installed it. That happened with my 66 and I had almost no left turn radius. I believe that with the pitman arm removed it's 5 1/2 turns from full left to full right, but you can easily check that when you have the arm off. just center your wheels and center your steering wheel and re-install the arm. of course, if you didn't remove the arm then this is all moot.

I had the same problem on the passenger side. We replaced 1/4 panels, fenders, rear frame rails.... I went to the local auto parts and bought shock absorber extensions under 5 bucks and put one on the lower side. It worked for me. But then again, I am driving a crusier, not a dragster.

My car sits lower on the passanger side. But I'm sure it's my front springs.
I'd check to makes sure all is sitted right. And drive the car alittle. And see if it's still off.

my car sits lower on the passenger side.
I think its common with these older cars.

measure all corners that might give you a clue.
My right rear sits only 1/2 inch lower than the left rear,
the front right sits a whole inch lower than the left front. That suggests its a front spring problem.

Alignment guys should help with centering the wheel for you, go somewhere with a good reputation (as if you would go somewhere else?)

Worn or shot sway bar end link bushings and/or leaf spring eye/shackle bushings can also teeter the car to one side or another

This is obviously not the case here, 'cos you would have noticed it before, but I've read that some of the early Stangs were out of kilter this way when they were NEW!

I just read something in hot rod magazine that might help.

It suggests jacking up the car somewhere between the front A arms in the middle (like a crossmember) then with the front wheels off the ground if the back of the car is level then you know the problem is with the front springs or bushings etc...

As far as the steering wheel is concerned, you more than likely need an alignment. As for the tilt, it could be that something is not seating right, bad shocks or possibly even a miixup in the springs themselves. Just my .02

Probably the new coil springs. One is probably a little shorter. Might double check to make sure both springs are seated the same. Did you put insulators on both sides? One of the insulators might not be seated properly.
