When I leave a drive way or go over a speed bump.I get a metal on metal clunk from the front end.My brother inlaw is a front end guy he checked the ball joints said they were good. Would the strut rod bushing make that noise I know they are bad. I think the spring perches are bad too.------------------ SCOOP 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

Scoop, It could be any of the bushings in the frontend. If you know the strutrods are bad its a good possibility they are making the noise, but it could be the upper or lower control arm bushings also. I would not think it would be the spring perches, they stay loaded and should only squeak going over bumps slow. ------------------ Ronnie 69 mach1 351W-4V engineless at the time! 70 Torino GT 351C-4v with a "shaker" Mustangs and More Member #23

Check the rubber bushing on the shocks. My upper front shock bushings were shot and it banged when I went over small bumps.------------------ '68 coupe 289 C code 66 heads, edel 600cfm carb, performer intake, dual exhaust

Strut rod bushings will do it, my '70 did that when the bushings went south. Had them replaced and the car was quiet and handled better. But like said above, check most of the bushings...after all, they are there to prevent metal on metal contact.------------------ Gary M.- '70 Mustang 63B (Deluxe SportsRoof)-my daily driver, '46 Ford pickup street rod, '46 Ford pickup street rod (the Mutt), '57 Ford Fairlane 500 Town Vic-waiting for resto-mod

I will go with the shock's as being suspect. Mine were only a year old when I started gettting a noise similiar to this. I crawled all under the car and could not locate anything. I didn't realize it was the shock's until I switched out the 2 pc. shock tower braces for the one piece export brace a year later - found one of my shock's completely blown - no gas in it. But, if you know you have bad bushings, they need to be getting changed out for sure.........

See if the bolt in cross member that goes under the engine between the mounts is loose. Also see if the rubber rebound bumpers are on the outer shocktower covers (the metal shield that covers up some of the coil springs).

Scoop, did you check to see if the shocks had the rubber spacers on them between the shocks and perches? When I installed the summit drag shocks, I forgot to install a couple and they were clunking pretty badly everytime I hit the brakes or gas. I put the new strut rod bushing in today. It made a big difference. The car drive and rides better then ever. The clunck is gone too. Thanks for all the help.I've checked all the above too.The rubber bumpers are still there Ray. I only wish I would have changed them sooner. The old bushing just feel off the strut. The car does sit higher in the front now. Will that go back down in time?------------------ SCOOP If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you. 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html
