How do I know if the date code is a 72 or 82 ?

You have to make an educated guess and take into account the casting number. For example, with a D9AE prefix, which is '79 {D9} you know it cannot be a '72, so it's a '82.

I can't ID your numbers, they are too new for my books.

Thanks thats what I was thinking too Steve.The motor was said to be the org stock motor out of an 85 Bronco.But it can't be if it's an 82.

I dont have any problems with guesses,it's the educated part that gets me every time.

Any idea's on the trans,it's an AOD said to be a 1986.

Yeah, it seems like the engine was cast in '82.

For the trans, E6TP stands for '86 truck/Bronco.
