I finally finished replacing the floor pans on my '66 coupe and was anxious to paint them. I had a nice coat of POR-15 on them only to notice bubbles forming here and there. After further investigation I found the new spray gun I bought had oil on the connections. I usually run thinner through the gun before painting, but skipped this step in my hurry to finish the job. OOOOPS!! I then had to get thinner and Q-tips to clean up the mess -- luckily it was the floor pans, so a few smears won't be noticed under the carpet! Lesson for today's efforts -- when you buy a new spay gun, clean it before using it!! And, oh yeah, when it says "this will stain your skin" right on the lable, you might want to wear latex gloves while painting(I know I'm going to get hell for this at work on Monday!).

In a hurry to paint.. Imagine that.. I thought everyone loved to do prep work for hours/days on end.. Very Good tip.. That could ruin a paint job big time.. When I painted the Flames on the snowmobile I had just read an article in HOT ROG MAG on Painting.. They really stressed patience with prep work.. It's a good thing I read the article several times.. Because the final results are a sign of the quality of prep work.. Good Luck with the rest of your project.. ------------------ Don '66 Fastback 302 with 5 speed Royal Blue Metallic w/Ghost Flames https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/BigD.html '94 Skidoo Mach Z, 925cc,, 175 hp,, 2" Camoplast Long Track.. I used por 15 years ago ..but brushed it on ..too thick ! did you have to use a special thinner ..or did you get a good result with a substitute? quote: Originally posted by 66project: I finally finished replacing the floor pans on my '66 coupe and was anxious to paint them.
