Let me just start out by saying thanks to everyone who replied to my post about the 289 firing problem. I went out and bought a can of starter fluid and started spraying around the manifold, and what do you know? there's a pipe plug on the back of the manifold with a hole in the top for something of which i don't know yet(that's why I bought a book) but to make a long story short, she idles real nice with just a piece of cardboard over that hole. so now it on to the phase of fixing what's broke. kinda hard to fix something if you don't know where the problem lies. you guys are great, and I hope my find helps someone else too.

That plug should go to the Auto trans. Sounds like you got a real good deal on the car. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs "Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted." 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

Thanks, I'll check into that. yeah, I like to think I got a good deal. It needs a lot of work, but is basically a drivable car, after i rebuild the carb, do the brakes, get tires and mufflers and fix the rotted floor board, lol. oh yeah, and put some black primer over the rotten yellow/green primer that's on it now. body is straight, all glass is good. quote: Originally posted by Fastymz: That plug should go to the Auto trans.
