Maybe, Yes, and No. I'd stay with the non power unless you really need the help turning the wheels.------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

Well personally, I don't need it, because I've driven non-power for many months and it takes almost no effort to turn now. And nobody don't needs "girly-man" steering anyway.

$800??? Sheesh, that's a big pile of cash that could be used for:New wheels and tires, or A rebuilt long block (plus a little), or A rebuilt transmission, or A posi differential with new gears, or Good cylinder heads, or A good intake, carb, and headers I guess it depends how far along your car is... p/s is a luxury option IMO i dont need no steeenking power steering The pump clutters the engine compartment, the hoses get in the way, the valve and cylinder will leak... That's money that could go a long way somewhere else IMHO

I don't like the power steering on my 68 because it slows the car down in the 1/4 mile. However I can just take the belt off.It is nice on a manual shift car though when your parking in a tight spot or something and your shifting back and forth from 1st to reverse, you can still turn the wheel with one hand.Mine doesn't leak and never has since I've had the car(OH no I've probably just jinxed myself). ------------------ 1968 mustang j-code sprint.13.69@101 306cu.in, stock ported heads, weiand exellerator,650 holley DP,hedman hedders, comp 292 Magnum cam,4-speed,8 inch 4.11 detroit locker http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy.html

Most guys are taking the power steering off and tossing it in the can. The power steering set-up on '65-'70 Mustangs are crap.LOL, I'd probably pay $800 to LOSE it! ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Please remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, Osborn Reproductions, MyFordPerformance.com, and FordRamAir.com

Well (had I ever had PS) I'd take off the power steering just so the wife wouldn't drive my Mustang.[This message has been edited by aGreenAgent (edited 03-24-2003).]

Depends on what you plan on doing with the car. Everyone hates power steering in a muscle car, but if it's a daily driver on surface streets...it sure makes the drive more comfortable. My 66 coupe was a daily driver the last 8 years before I tore it down...eventually you'll still get a feel for the road even with power steering. The only problems I've had are above 120mph you might tend to overcorrect, thus getting a sway (or worse)...but how often are you going to drag a daily driver? A drag car driven on the weekends, on the other hand...------------------ '66 Coupe Frame Up In Early Stages 347 Stroker, Tremec 3550, 9 inch rear, 4X power disk brakes, coil over front suspension, rack and pinion steering, side exhaust, leather interior

As the others have said, forget about it. i could think of better things to spend $800.00. The factory p.s. design is a really crappy design and lacks any road feel. It also looses that "on center' feel too. The Mustang is a relatively light car with limited size front tires that'll fit. Unless you have a physical problem, forget the expense. The only way I'd consider putting p.s. back into my 66, is if someone had a kit to use an integeral p.s. box like the newer cars.
