I've got a line on a set of Headman 88650 headers. The are for a 351 W. Is there any reason these will not fit the 302 in my 69?------------------ 1969 Mustang Sportsroof 302 with 3 Speed Stick !!!Totally Stock!!!

They'll hang an inch lower because of the deck height difference, that may not be a problem or it could be a big problem.------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Please remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, Osborn Reproductions, MyFordPerformance.com, and FordRamAir.com

Thanks Steve. They are shorty headers so they shouldn't hang low at all. I was mainly worried about my clutch linkage.

Keep in mind that they'll have to clear your shock towers, motor mounts, and crossmember, too.In times like this I consider that if they would fit the 302 in addition to the 351W, the manufacturer would have saved a lot of packaging, tooling, storage, and other costs and have a single part number for both application. There's probably something there that will bite you in the butt. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Please remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, Osborn Reproductions, MyFordPerformance.com, and FordRamAir.com

You better check about the clutch linkage, I don't think shorty headers are made for manual tranny cars.------------------ Stuart MCA #48902 M&M #1091 67 stang 5 speed, 351W, Edelbrock Performer RPM package my photo page

Good point, but all I've been able to find so far is that they wont fit with column shift manuals. Seems like a shift linkage rather than a clutch linkage problem. What I'm concerned about now are the things Steve mentioned.

69 Sportsroof, If you saw those on ebay and they are listed by Ekbeanctr2, that's me. If you decide to bid on them I will throw in the frt for free. BUT, you might want to try contacting Hedman at 562-921-0404 and ask them if they would fit. I don't want to sell them to you if they won't work. Thanks Gene. Yep. David it is. I saw that but I'm looking for short headers. Plus, I hardly ever buy anything new..... Yeah, I know, I'm a cheapskate... [This message has been edited by 69 Sportsroof (edited 03-19-2003).]

That's the headers I have on my 351W in the 69 MACH1. I don't think they would work on a 302, i think they would hit on top of the motor mounts. ------------------ Ronnie 69 mach1 351W-4V engineless at the time! 70 Torino GT 351C-4v with a "shaker" Mustangs and More Member #23

Well I have to take that last statement back. I looked on the hedman web site and they list the same long style headers for a 302 and a 351, so they should fit with no problems.http://www.hedman.com/pages/hedmanmain.html ------------------ Ronnie 69 mach1 351W-4V engineless at the time! 70 Torino GT 351C-4v with a "shaker" Mustangs and More Member #23

Ronnie, These are clones of Hooker Super Comp, not Hedman. Also, Alex says they are for 289/302. Gene

Hedman calims to me (via E-mail) the the shorties WILL fit a 4 speed car. I don't see how unless everything passes above the Z bar....
