im putting a 351w in a 65 mustang my questions are; first of all they say my bell housing on my c4 will have to be changed? they say i need a bell housing and engine plate from a c4 that will fit the 351w? also ive heard it said that the factory exhaust manifolds wont fit you need headers is that correct? if both these are true then i need to know part#s or places maybe i could get these items. if someone has put this engine in a 65 mustang i sure would appreceiate some info on this im new to the mustang world and new to putting a 351w in it. thank alot

Welcome to M&M !
The swap is a drop in. Well, almost.
You will not need to swap bell housings and block plates.
The only manifolds I know will fit for certain are the 1969 Mustang/Fairlane units and that is with an automatic.

I used the stock C4 bell housing, and motor mounts. The only thing I needed were the Alt brakcets from a 351w.My motor had stock exhaust manifolds for some time. But the hedders fit better and allowed more room for spark plug chaging.I know of some shorty headers for sale, just made for that application see classified forum.

With a Performer RPM intake and Carter AFB it took me a couple days to round up an air cleaner with the right drop base so it would fit between the 351W and my 68's hood.

If you have trouble finding a radiator let me know. Somehow we goofed and got the wrong one first. I know I have a receipt with the part number for my C-4tranny four core someplace in that folder.

I'll grab the part number tonight about midnight central when I'm home and include the number to the place I got it from.

My receipt doesn't have the long version of the part number, just#379 from The Mustang Corral at 800-327-2897. Set me back $260.95 on ticket number 82452 from 12/18/02

let me know if the pic loads, its my new experiment. if not, here's a link

Rick, I snagged all my brackets from the truck my 351W was in. Trouble is the A/C bracket wanted to stick through the hood. The one I used came off the shelf in the garage and no one seems to remember where its from
