Will a 84-85 AOD out of a 4cyl Mustang fit behind a 351w.Is there a difference between AOD in the v8's and the 4 bangers.

It may bolt up, but you want a V8 AOD.

Thanks Steve it's not for my car. It's for my dads T-bucket project.
There is a guy in town selling the AOD from a SVO Mustang so he says it's from an SVO.He wants $25 for it.

An "AOD' is the Automatic Overdrive used behind 3.8's (V6's),5.0's,and 351W's. The OD transmission found behind 4 cylinder Mustangs and Rangers is an "A4LD". This automatic is wimpy and could not handle the torque of a V8. Besides which it will NOT bolt up behind a V8. Nor does anyone sell anything to adapt it (not that you'd want to). You don't want it.

You want to find an AOD from a 89-91 mustang 5.0. They have improved oiling and have the right shift lever but you will need to rotate the lever 180 degrees. been der done dat..lol Does anybody know if an AOD will fit in a 66 with a 351w and shorty swap headers?
