I was on my way home from school when I was entering the turn lane from the lane. I had my nose in the lane about 3 feet into it. It was red and I sat there for 40 seconds. THen the light turns green and the person behind the nose of my car hits the gas and barrels into the front left fender of my car. The fender is garbage, and I'm pissed. They CHP declared it my fault I guess because she supposedly didn't see me and it was supposedly an "unsafe lane change," even though I was sitting there for at least 30 seconds not moving, and I never even let go of the brake when I got hit. Dammit. How much is a new fender?

I'm glad no one got hurt, and a fender will run about $150-$300.

South of you is a Junk yard called 'Memory Lane' give them a call. They may have a good used one.
How bad is your fender, because you could try to knock it out and then use some BONDO.Thats what holds most of my car together for now.

The fender doesn't look THAT bad, but I would think it'd cost more money to pay someone to repair it than to buy a new one.

You don't have to pay someone to do the work.Go out buy a book on body work,or ask a lot of question one here. You can at least get the dented area to look better.

How bad is it,like how big of dent, were on the fender is it,how deep is the dent?

This sounds like the perfect opportunity for you to practice your body-work skills! When there's no $$ to get it done - then there is always "Manual" who can do it!

What can you really hurt? The fender is already mangled..... Just arrange for some other transportation for a week or so, (that way you won't worry about being stopped for not having a fender/lites) and start unbolting the thing... bang it out.... bolt it back on.... sand it down.... spray some zinc etching primer on it.... bondo in the rough stuff.... grate, finish sand, and finish glaze it.... prime it and paint it. I'm sure you can obtain some sandpaper, a can of bondo and a tube of glaze, & a two cans of primer and two cans of color paint. Even if you have to take out a loan for the less than 40$ from your folks.

Then when you have a job and have $$, you can buy a better fender and have it sprayed by a shop that will match it in better. In the meantime, you can say, "I did it myself!"

Well, they didn't hit hard, they just hit and scraped most of the length of the driver's side fender. It ripped off the light assembly and the grill. I suppose I could do it while I save up for a fender, then either buy a new one or use the old one if it looks good. Well let's start then. What tools should I use to bang it out with?

Oh and I'll try to post pics of it later.

LOL @ Alan sand sand so ture.

Use a piece of wood flat against the fender to pound out the dent,or a flat headed hammer.Work slowly and keep checking your work.

Thanks, I'll do that tomorrow. Everytime I turn right it grinds the tire so it's not very driveable, I at least need to reshape it to driveable condition. How do I remove the fender? I know of the the 5 or 6 on top when you open the hood, but I'm assuming there are some underneath as well, where are they?

There are 6 on the top of the fender under the hood. One at the top of the door jam.One behind the front tire under the fender. And I think 2 or 4 behind the headlight.Thats all I can remember right now.
