Bill is this a street only car,or will you race it?
I'd say 3.55 for all around fun,or 3.80-4.11 for alittle more FUN.

Then I'd go to at least a 3.8 gear.

4.11 or taller!!

You've got that extra 2 gears on the 5spd. Why tease yourself with 3.55 or less?

I've got a C4 with 3.55 and i'd go to 3.73 or maybe even 4.11 but I think i'd run out of RPMs before the 1320ft.

Bill,
Currie is making a new aluminum housing for 8 inchers thats really strong enough for what you want. It would be cheaper than a 9 inch, and much lighter. I would go with higher than 3.55 if I had a 5 speed. A 3.55 in a 5 speed will cruise very low RPMS on the highway, its like a 2.79 in a 4 speed or C4. 4.11 would be agressive but still streetable with a 5 speed. Also depends on tire size but we assume you will be driving on normal street tires
