OK, I visited a place called Gingerman raceway last weekend and now I'm excited. (Gotta get my car running by spring). They have a 1.9 mile road racing circuit designed so that if you go off the track you hit GRASS. No posts etc.
http://www.gingermanraceway.com
They also have a group that teaches you how to race your car. "CGI MOTORSPORTS offers a series of driving schools where you can enjoy driving your car in the company of other enthusiasts such as yourself. Each day offers up to 4 hours of on-track time for you and your car. Classroom sessions and in-car instructors are available to help you learn the dynamics of driving. These events are held at Gingerman Raceway, South Haven, Mi.. Gingerman is an interesting and challenging track and is extremely safe. The cost is only $150.00 per day. Most other schools offer a total of only 2 - 3 hours track time over a two day period and costs range anywhere from two to four times as much. Please contact us with any questions you may have " http://www.cgimotorsports.com/drivingschedule.html I'm thinking this might be a great place to schedule an M&M day or weekend?? So what do you guys think??

It sounds like a cool place.
I got a chance to do alittle auto cross racing. It's a lot of fun,but I still like drag racing best.

Cool stuff! I wish there was one a little closer but I'm seeing a three day romantic weekend with the little lady now.

Friday Afternoon Cubs game, Friday night out drinking. Saturday morning fishing in the lake, Saturday afternoon at Gingerman. Saturday night drinking. Sunday morning Sears tower, Sunday afternoon Gingerman, Sunday night fix my wheels so I can drive back to St. Louis.

I would really love to track race if there was a circle around here, and if there were no other cars to hit.

Road racing is great in an older Mustang. Manual brakes, steering, and gearbox with lots of HP makes for a good time.I got started on Open Track events and go as often as I can.I also auto-x and even though thats fun it is usually pretty tight.
