If I can get this right.. there should be a picture below here The link to the rest of them is www.riverbendadvertising.com/carpics/ I finally got it in the garage and took some pictures of it before I started doing anything (well besides removing the hood). Notice the sunroof.. still trying to decide whether I should keep it or not..

Ahhh, the memories of re-doing my own 69' came back to me while looking at your pics. It's a very nice project, and a worthy one at that. Do you know the car's history very well, or got a story about how you came across it? It appears to be a 1969 Mach 1 (with 1970 Mach 1 exterior rocker trim) due to the interior. And I see a 4 spd in place. What the car's vitals - engine, options, etc? That would dictate what route you may take on it. Personally, I would lose the sunroof. But, it is your car and should be built to be enjoyed by you, so that would be your decision. Go to some car shows this summer and see what combinations you like, take lot's of photos, and be prepared for a long road ahead. It's all worth it in the end. Great looking project, good luck on her!

Been lurking on here for awhile, but this really caught my interest!!!

Wow,,,I thought I was the only crazy person on here. This car looks the same shape as the one I am getting ready to start on, minus the sun roof. A big undertaking, but I have a friend willing to help me with alot of the work and he has a good size garage that we will be working in. My biggest obstacle is to not get consumed by the restoration of the car and ignore the wife and daughter. Want them to be somewhat involved or at least have a little interest in what I'm doing.
What did you have to give for your car in it's current shape? Motor in or out? Floor pans good or are they like all the others I've seen, Flintstone style???
Enough for now,,,Keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks for the welcome. Hope to use this site for questions or solutions that I run into on my project. Spent alot of time on the Ford-Diesel site before and after I got my truck, learned alot. Been about 21 years since I last worked on a Mustang, in the Navy in SC. My first car I ever owned was a '69 Grande, straight 6, 3speed,4lug spindles. Found a wrecked '68 with a 302,toploader,trac-loc rear. Swapped all the parts and finally had a real Mustang. Second car was a '69 Sportsroof,351W,auto, not sure of the rear gearing. Owned both cars at the same time and shared license plates (illegal as all get out) young and didn't care.
Guess it's like a bicycle, it'll come back to me, I know I'm looking forward to getting started.

Travs69,,,keep the car and get started on it. I looked at all your pics and you are way ahead of what I am getting. Interior is what I'm going to have to track down, at least the high back buckets, mine are the short back ones. At least I do have the fold down and factory air and console, hood scoop is still on the car too with the correct wires for the signals. No power brakes, but from what I've been reading, that issue can be resolved.

69 Sportsroof,, Tried to come up with a original screen name, but seems you already had it I just modified it alittle.

This is actually my second 69 mustang.. My first 69 Mach I was a lot closer to original.. and all I was doing was tearing it up (had it between the ages of 15 - 18).. so I bought the one you see in the picture for $900 dollars and sold my first one to a friend of the family who could afford to send it back to it original specs. The car above had a 302 with 289 heads/intake, 4-speed. The guy had blow the original engine (351W from the VIN) and had the 302 built for it.. it had hooker headers, dual points and a holley (not sure what cfm) then had it painted. About 6 weeks after the paint job his wife took it out and had the sun roof put in it.. he wan't happy at all about it.. his son took it out about a year after it was done and touched a guard rail with the passenger fender.. after that the guy said he put it on blocks till his kid was older. It sat that way for years.. I bought it.. fixed the brakes, changed the oil, swapped in a 750 dp that I had bought for a 351C, had my dad adjust the points (heck I can't set one set let alone 2).. took it for a test drive.. broke the accelator cable.. had to drive home with a shoe string tied to the carb.. shifting and steering with my right hand.. shoe string in the left.. kinda funny.. put a accelator cable in it.. then did some street racing.. finally some kind I beat who had a falcon with a slow 302 offered my $600 for the motor.. So I sold it to him because I have two different 351C's to choose from. One is a 30 over 9.5 motor, 2V heads, 4 barrel intake. The other is a 30 over 12.5 motor, 4V heads, dual 4V high rise tunnel ram... I'm going to strip the car and my dad (who owns a body shop) is going to help me back half it and add a cage.. mustang II rack and pinion.. I was thining blue with silver flames..

Sounds like you have had a Mustang background yourself. My father-in-law has his own body shop, so the paint work won't be a problem. The steel replacement will be done by myself and a friend that has just completed a '49 Ford pickup that he had to cut a tree out of the cab to move it, so he has had plenty of experience with rust.
Keep the pics coming on your progress.

I love seeing these noble Mustangs coming back from the brink of death.

We are preserving a hertiage. After all the ricers with wagon wheels are just bad-haircut, bellbottom and nehru jacket style memories, classic Mustangs will be still roaming the streets blowing the doors off electro-gas hybred plastic commuter boxes.
