Since I broke my horn ring my wife ordered me a new steering wheel tonight. Should be here by the end of the week. Yes, it's a Grant but it's the one I want.

Does that wheel have the older style horn or the newer style? I always had problems with the older style.. the last one I bought looked identical.. but the horn part was one unit.. and you didn't have to mess with the spring like on the older unit. I'm looking for a new one and I'd like to know if they are all like that.

Installed it a year ago: Great wheel, nice grip to it 2 recommendations though: Install a horn relay, the horn relay switches wires are wayyyy too small and your horn will sound like a coughing yugo ! (unless they fixed the problem with your serie) Use loctite on the 4 bolt connecting the wheel to the base, they keep on getting loose and the steering feel gets looser

Well since I broke the horn ring I just gave up. One horn is dead and the other makes a growling sound when you jump the contacts but sounds ok when jumped to the battery. I'm going to carefully get deeper into the steering column wiring and make sure I'm not grounding out somewhere.

I'm not sure if mine has a relay already or not. I cant find a wiring diagram anywhere for a 69 that shows the horn circuit. Guess I'm going to have to break down and buy one...
