I am running a plain points type distributor with a pertronix flame thrower coil. I will be getting an ignitor II soon, but right now it has points. It runs a litte rough at idle and still misses a little under hard acceleration, sometimes it does it and sometimes its smooth. I only have 6 volts at the coil, I assume thats the fault of the resistor in the wire from the ignition switch. Should I bypass it somehow to get better ignition or in preparation for the ignitor II unit?? Thanks Phil

Dont by pass the wire until you get ride of the points.Once you install the ignitor you can run a wire from the igition swict to the coil by passing the resistor wire.Have checked the points to make sure they are still good, and check your dwell too.
