Hey guys. Just picked up a 68 mustang. Anyone care to decode her for he tag was very hard to read. But this is what I think it says. 8T010197010 It's all faded out and that's what it looks like is stamped there. It had GT350 on side but I think someone might have stuck it there. who knows.. Thanks. Shell

Well, it's definitely a '68! And it was made in Metuchen, NJ. And it's a hard top. The mystery digit is the fifth one, the one you think is "0". That's your engine code. Could it be a C? That would make it a 289 2V. The rest of the number is the order number from the factory, including Falcons and Fairlanes.[This message has been edited by Fastback68 (edited 10-16-2002).]

Hmmm. Look through the windshield at the PASSENGER side of the dashboard and see if the VIN there is more readable. Don't ask why Ford put it there. It's a 68-only thing.

That's where I found that one.. That was the only one I could find. I will look and see if it was a C and not an 0. It is in fairly good condition, all original body panels.. Definately needs some interior work. But she runs.. Needs a carb rebuild kit but that's to be expected. I will try to snag the Digital and take a pic. And Mike, those puppies are just fine, thank you.. Good luck this weekend.. Shell

Thanks for help guys.. It is a C.. Found the tag under the hood and it was more readible there. It appears she still has the 289 in it from factory. All in all, I think I got a sweet little car here.. Shell
