Ok guys help me out here. I dont know what to do. I am putting a 351 in my coupe and obviously it will not fit under my stock hood with turn signals in it. I love the stock look and really want to keep it. If I cant I DO NOT want fiberglass. I want something custom made into the hood to make the engine fit. Something like the ealanor hood but metal with the signal cutouts. Are there any after market steel hoods, with or with out turn signals? Please help! thanks

Well, better wait for someone else to say this with 100% certainty, but I believe a 351 will fit under your stock hood just fine, at least if you use the original 1968 low-profile air cleaner.

Well heres the thing. I am using the same air cleaner, but I am using an Edlebrock Performer RPM manifold which is a high rise. So I have been told it will be too high, unless you think otherwise or is there another manifold I can use for that same RPM range as the RPM series?

I too think you should be able to get it under the stock hood.Mine fit under the hood with the RPM intake, stock motor mounts, and a 1' four hole carb spacer and a thin air cleaner.
I'd try it 1st before you change anything.Unless you want to scoop it,'SCOOPS' are always cool.

I have a 351W in my 68 coupe, regular mounts, performer RPM, Performer carb, and a regular (not drop base) are filter/cleaner and it fits under my stock hood.

My 351W fits under my stock hood with turn signals. It has the stock '70 intake. I even have the A/C compressor mounted in there.

I know from personal exp. that the Vic Jr will not fit, but I have heard from trusted and respected sources that with a RPM or even Perf RPM you will not have a problem. They do make drop base air cleaners too, but not one with enough clearance for my stock hood. Don't tell anyone or I will be put into the 'loser class' but I ran this Woodward cruise with no air cleaner. Yeah, yeah - I'm a loser.

I've heard from the other members on here too that a Performer RPM Air-Gap barely clears the hood, anyone had any experience with this that has a '68 with a 351W?
