Which cooler line on the c4 trans is the return line.Is it the more forward towards the motor.Or the one closer to the rear end.I want to know so when I hook up a trans cooler.
Do you guys think the $59.00 B&M super cooler is enough or should I get a bigger one.I'm going to run the trans through the cooler only, and by pass the rad.So I want a cooler that can handle it.With out spending to much on it.I dont want one with the fans on it.

And for trans lines I was just going to bend my own steel line. What have some of you done. What size ends dose the trans take,I think Alex once said they were 1/8npt??
And what size line do I use for the trans?I think it's 5/16 ?

Thanks for the help.

I just saw an article where they routed the line from the trans thru the rad cooler and then to the trans cooler and return straight to the trans. Kinda makes sense, the rad cooler has to help a little.

Fast,

I'm not sure what the return line is but to answer a couple of your questions...

The cooler lines are 5/16.
The B&M should be big enough, what's the flow rating? ATI tranmissions sell a Perma-cool cooler that may be a little cheaper but the same as the B&M. Mustangs Unlimited also sells one that's a little different but may be a little more efficient.
Be sure to bypass the radiator cause if the engine overheats, the hotter radiator fluid will also heat up the transmission lines more.

Erik

Erik, the B&M has a rating of 28,000 GVW.Im not what the flow rating is.

Pete,I know what your saying, but in the summer my car gets up to 205+.Then the rad, would be heating the trans not cooling it off.And running it bypass the rad, will also help to cool the motor alittle.
