I just checked out the webpage, and the sterling finish looks pretty nice. What's the consensus on their product? Seems like a good deal for the coating and at a good price too. Anybody have pics of the grey color? I didn't see anything besides the sterling and blue on their page.

From what I understand, Hooker has Jet-Hot coat their headers, or most of them at least. I've got a pair of coated SuperComps, and they are drop dead gorgeous. Coated inside and out, polished up to a real shiny silver. I haven't seen the grey ones, but the black coating looks good also. I think they can even do red, or so I'm told.

So, the hooker super comps that cost about $300-$350 come already coated inside and out?

Unforutnately no. SuperComps (painted) start around $300, add a "-1" to the end of the part number to order them coated. I paid $468-something for my 6111-1's from Summit [This message has been edited by V8 Thumper (edited 04-08-2002).]

dang. Well, supposedly the coated lasts like 140 times longer than high temp paint and 10 times longer than chrome, so does that mean the coated headers should be the last set of headers I ever buy?

Unless you bottom out your car and scrape the sh*t out of them, yes; they will be the last headers you'll need to buy for that motor. Painted headers look great right out of the box. No sooner do you run in the cam, the paint begins to discolor, then it begins to chip and peel. And then the rust starts eating them up... That's why I forked out the $$$ for a pair of headers amongst the best money can buy. I quote n2o Mike: "You get what you pay for, both in performance and fit." 'nuff said

I installed the 6901-1 Hooker Comps on the 66 Fastback. They come ceramic (Jet-Hot??) coated for $320 from either Summit or Jegs.------------------ Bernie Frank 66 Fastback restomod project 85 GT (preserved) 82 GT (original)

If they're coated in and out, that's a deal. The guys at jet-hot told me $425 for the 6901 coated sterling finish in and out.

I think those are Competition headers, not the SuperComps. $320-some should be about right for those http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=23486

High Performance Coatings coated my Super Comps. inside and out for $240. I checked with Jet Hot, they wanted $330. HPC had a better warranty also. Ryan------------------ '73 Mach 1,'71 429/C6, 3.25 Trac-Lok www.mustangsandmore.com/ubb/73429MACH.html
