The car is a 1973 Mach I (orig. 351C Car). It is Porsche Guards Red
with '71 stripes, red & black interior, 1971 429, bored .030, CompCam 268H
camshaft, Carter 625 carb., Hooker headers, 2 Chamber Flowmasters, C6 Auto
w/shift kit, 9 inch 3.25 traction lok, Cragar SS 15X7 wheels front and 15X8 rear.
This is my first car. I bought the car from my uncle (also a Mustang enthusiast) in 1984.
In 1987, my brother Todd and my Uncle Elvin performed a cosmetic restoration.
It was my daily driver until 1989. In 1990 we pulled the original motor and
put in the 429 engine. In 1993, I started a complete restoration at my brother
Todd's garage. Originally this was planned as a one year project, but
8 years and 2 daughters later, we have reached completion.
Some of the body work consisted of 2 rear quarter panels, outer wheel housings,
trunk floor, floor pans, cowl, tail light panel, and 3 engine compartment panels.
All of the work done on this car was performed by me with the exceptions
of the transmission rebuild, rear end rebuild, stripe kit application
(done by my brother) and seats & headliner (done by my brother and sister-in-law).
The 429 engine was rebuilt with the help of my brother-in-law, Jon.
I would like to thank my brother and sister-in-law, Todd & Kathy, for allowing
me to use/store my car at their place for the last 7 1/2 years.
Another thanks to my Uncle Elvin for all of his technical advice (and for
selling it to me in the first place!), as well as my brother-in-law Jon for
finding all of my "hard to get" parts. I am especially thankful to my wife for
all of the patience she has shown through the years.
Now we can enjoy the car, just like when we were in high school!
