Even though I'm not crazy about spending money, I really enjoy gathering the parts for my Mustangs. Some of the parts are rare and it's more like a scavenger hunt to locate them, but it is fun when you start getting the stuff in.

It's cool seeing the beat up parts come off and the new or reconditioned parts go back on. It's like you are erasing the years off.

I think the best thing is when you go to a swap meet and find a bunch of parts at dirt cheap prices. I picked up a set of '70 Mach I hubcaps, very good conditoin, for $25 for the set. Finding deals really makes my day, especially when it's a hard to find item that takes forever to find. I know exactly what Steve is talking about, I love to put that shiny new part on my car, it makes her look just a bit better.

Wouldn't it be cool to have time-elapse photography as the parts go on. Sort of like a 'Christine' movie thing.

Last weekend i went to a salvage yard to get a spare tire holder for my truck, wound up leaving with a near perfect RUST FREE left fender for my '73 (a rare find in a Louisiana junkyard) and a flawless urethane front bumper. Spent $80 on the whole deal. Now that was fun! Never did get that spare tire carrier. Oh, well, guess i'll have to go back tomorrow!

Did you ever notice how your 'Stang runs better with a car wash? Fresh oil change?

Yes parts are always cool.
Parts for swap meet and bone yards are really cool.I have rear seat belts and door arm rest all kinds on Ford embelems. All from the bone yard.
I just keep looking at my car when the new parts are on.And as I drive around town I know every one else notices the parts too.Even if they are under the hood.

Jeff,it's a fact that your car runs better after a wash and oil change.

Ohhhhh, I don't want to be the party pooper, but I cannot agree with that! When I look in my yard and the pile of parts is larger than my car, I have a sinking feeling
On a more positive note, cars -- and bikes even more so -- always run better on a full tank. I've sworn by this all my life 'cos it's TRUE!

All the stash that is clean, and it's a lot! is in the guest room. Large items like consoles across the bed plus boxees of stuff. Nice part is, THERE'S NO ROOM FOR GUESTS!!

Yeah, I have three spare windshields, and there's only one place to keep them, on the double bed in the guest room! I also have few guests these days

Instead of the guest room, maybe we should call them parts rooms. I know if I had it my way I'd have shelves in the spare room full of cleaned parts for all my cars and trucks.
