Well when they dynoed the engine the Jet Hot coating on the headers burned. Jet Hot said if I paid the frieght they would redo them for free. They said they would be done in two days. So I sent them to Jet Hot in Bridgeport PA, about 25 miles ffrom here in Philly. It shouldn't have taken more than two days to get there. I sent them on Nov. 5th. On the 16th they sent them back Fedex ground. After tracing and fighting with Fedx they kept giving me excuses and telling me every day they would be delivered. After I screamed the Regional Mgr. for Phila hand delivered them in his own car. That was yesterday the 30th. Not bad for two day turn around. My car is at my buddies shop and he had things to do this weekend ya know Christmas and all he has three little ones. So it looks like maybe my car will be running on Monday. Everthing else except the hood is done. Frame ties, driveshaft loop, scattershield, resealed trans and new input shaft since it was worn and wouldn't seal anymore. New wheels and tires 28x11 1/2 Hoosier street slicks. Now the hood was supposed to be shipped from GA on Friday so I hope I will have it by the end of the week. Then it goes to the body shop. You know how they are, so maybe I'll get my car back for a Christmas present. Maybe it will be cold by then and I'll get to try the tires out in the snow. RAY

STEVE, JET HOT KNEW RIGHT AWAY WHAT CAUSED IT. SEEMS THAT WHEN YOU DYNO AN ENGINE AND IT RICH OR LEAN THE EXHAUST TEMP. EXCEEDS THE DURABILITY OF THEIR COATING. THIS IS WHY THEY MADE ME PAY THE FRIEGHT. STILL WAS NICE OF THEM TO REDO THEM FOR FREE. THEY LOOKED LIKE SH@@@. I COULDN'T PUT THEM BACK ON THE CAR LIKE THAT.

Did you look at your plugs after that run? It might be too lean for the motor also.

Right, lean mixtures really build exhaust heat. I was just surprised it go hot enough to harm the Jet-Hot coating. I thought they were bullet-proof.

He did lean it now that I remember, it melted a couple of plugs. He tore the motor apart to check for damage but said it was OK. He put in colder plug and a bigger carb and now it's OK. I think they were Autolite 25's that melted and now they are 23's. I crossed them over to Motorcraft and got some ASF22C's. After Fed ex lost the headers for a week and their regonal mgr delivered them he didn't collect the COD for the frieght. I thought they waived it because of the delay. Today my buddie gets a call at his shop from Jet Hot that they want $32.00 for the frieght. I said $32.00 for Fed Ex ground. I called Fed EX and they said they would credit Jet Hot the charges but the only problem is the charges were only $13.48 and she said that I would have to take up the difference with Jet Hot. I wish I could mark up my parts 250%. I told my buddie to tell them it will be a cold day in hell before I pay it. It's the principle of it not the amount. Jet Hot said they would redo the headers for free if I paid the frieght, so I think they tried to collect some of their loses. I know about handling since I'm in the parts business but I don't charge it just the actual charges. The good news is the car started today and sounds awesum. Now the hood should be here by Friday so thing are moving along again. Guess I won't see it this year. RAY PS. I'm from Philly and ramble..
