I have tint on my windows that needs to be replaced, I just wondered if anyone has tackled this problem themselves and how did it turn out. I am trying to decide whether to try it out myself or just pay someone to do it. Also how do you remove it? If I could at least do that part it would probably save me some cash. I am assuming that I will just need razor blades and plenty of patience......

I removed mine last year, it wasn't very hard. I had it on my rear window only. I removed it, and let it sit in the sun with ammonia soaked papertowels on it for about 1-2 hours. I did try and scratch it a little before putting the towels on it so it could get in. I peeled right off.
If you are going to leave the windows on the car, it will be harder, but you can do it. If you have a steamer, that is supposed to work well too, but i have never tried it.

i have a friend in the business of installing window tint, and i can tell you from watching him that removal and installation is trickier than it seems. first you need to apply ammonia liberaly to the film and cover it with either paper towels or bags. as stated let it soak for about an hour. then scrap it off with razor blades. if you plan to reinstall the tint then let the pros do it. they need the windows absolutly clean for the tint to adhere properly. ANY debris left on the glass will show up and be very obvious. sometimes when you try to remove the tint yourself you get the tint layer but not the base of the film or the adhesive.
