Wolfgang: Going through my back issues of MMonthly, I came across two articles on Bullitt. Dec. '85 and Nov. 81 If you don't have those articles, let me know and I can get you a copy. Also, in one Bullitt feature, the car had 215/60 HR x 15 fronts and 235/60 HR x 15 rears with a 1' drop in front. Is this a good size to use on a 68? Seems like the fender bead will have to be rolled. I'm planning on using Eibach 1" drop coils. Mustangs Plus sells a coil like that and will get them there as well as the wheels. Like hearing your thoughts.

Hey mellowyellow, I run that rear tire size on my 68 fastback and I have no problems with tire rub. On the front I'm using 205 X 60 15. I'm using the Torque thrust D rims and also have the Mustangs plus 620 coils with a shortened poly spring pearch so as to lower the ride in front. My car is lowered all around, it was that way when I bought it in 1987. It is posted in the photo galley but it was(and still is) on jacks when that photo was shot. When I get it up and going again I will update the pics.------------------ joe 2001 SVT Cobra 68 GT Fastback 98 F-150 90 Escort GT (smokes the tires in all 5 gears, or just smokes through all gears)

No, I do not have those articles, a copy would be good to have. I can give you my address, if you send me an e-mail to [email protected] I think 215/70HR14 (15) would be the limit up front and 235/60HR15 often depend on the car and the backspacing of the rims. Simply measure your existing wheels and the available space in each direction. This is the easiest way to check it. On mine they did not fit without rubbing..

Here's some general wheel and tire info that might help. 215/65R15 works nicely in front and back for me .. They work with 15x6" or 15x7" wheel and 4" backspacing and will allow you to rotate if needed.. Less than 4" backspacing caused some fender rubbing in front. I also know that 15x8" wheels with 41/2" backspacing will work also, and more than 41/2" backspacing in the front causes wide tires to rub the A-arms. The wider 215/60R15 may work in front with 41/2" backspacing, but I haven't tried it... yet.

Thanks for the info, guys! I've been d**king around with my 68 too long. Got past the talk the walk part and am getting my EFI stuff together. Joe: will check out your photo page. Wolfgang: I never cease to be impressed with the info and pics that you share with us. I will e-mail you to get your address to send you the articles. This AM a guy posted a wanted ad on v-m.com and he put on a pic of his 68 Cougar Very nice with Edelbrock 409 wheels! Have kinda figured on TT II's or TT d's.

Thanks, it is just that we had/have to go the extra mile to get all the information needed, so most of us overseas guys do archive their information probably better than if you have it all at your next parts shop doorstep and our garages are probably more stuffed with what we never will need again.
