I have a 1967 coupe that originally came with a 289, now has a 302. I want to drop in a 390/428. I know 390 was a option and a 428 is the same block. What do I need to do for the swap, and does anyone have any suggestions on identifing a good 390/428 engine? All help will be appreciatted.

That's an easy swap, but why not put a 460 in it. A donor car would be the place to start. Maybe a Lincoln, T-bird, LTD etc. Pick up an old "boat" for a couple hundred and away you go. SteveW

I planned on swapping out the C4 with a C6, maybe I can find a doner with both engine and trans together. I had a 73 MachI with a 351CJ and 4spd, I wish I had setup for this car but I sold it when I was in Desert Storm. I want something I can cheaply put in the car because I am on a very tight budget. As far as stock the car would be 100% original if the previous owner didnt let a shop pull the 289 and stick a 302 in it. I don't plan on stock but modified. Its now blue not the original yellow, has 295-50R-15's on back and 205-60R-14's on front on US Indy slotted mags, it also has from the previous owner a scoop that appears to be from a 69-70 MachI style. I picture the car a mix between stock and modified.

Where are you at? I am still pretty new to the area, originally from Phoenix.

Just out of curiosity, if a 302 does, say, 20 miles per gallon, and all else is equal, how far will a 460 get you? Simon
