I have looked into chrome plating for some parts on my car and it is outrageously expensive. However, I have seen a guy locally who has Eastwoods new powdercoat set-up and there is this "almost chrome" kind of color that looked pretty good on his hood hinges. Of course, it was a powdercoat, but still looked good for not being geniune chrome.

Finding someone to plate the grill could be a chalange. There are not many places that can plate plastic. I looked a couple of years ago to get a plastic trim piece for my console plated, and could not find anyone to do it.------------------ Ronnie 69 mach1 351W-4V 70 Torino GT 351C-4v with a "shaker" Mustangs and More Member #23

65mustang: You probably already know this, but the correct color for 1965 grilles is charcoal blue, and it looks really nice! Have you thought about doing it the original color? NPD sells the correct paint. But, if you still want to go with the silver color, that sounds like it will look cool, too! As usual, my car's DPO (Dreaded Previous Owner) screwed up the grille and painted it black! I'm so tired of correcting this bonehead's mistakes! Ok, ok...I'm all better now. Just had to blow off some steam! ------------------ *andy* ([email protected]) also known as...***Boss Hoss*** *1965 Mustang 289 coupe* *1996 Mustang GT coupe*

Guess I've been messing around with 69 & 70's too long, did not even think about a 65 having a metal grill.------------------ Ronnie 69 mach1 351W-4V 70 Torino GT 351C-4v with a "shaker" Mustangs and More Member #23

Blue, black, silver, and a lots of other possibilities. Paint it a color that YOU think would look good. Chrome plating is a rip off really ridiculous price's. Look in an eastwood catalog or even your local automotive parts store for paints and such.Let us know how it turns out Snake ------------------ Success comes to those who hustle wisely. It's the fault of the EPA. They've just had some super-tough laws passed, and it's very expensive for platers to comply with them. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 M code 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 open '72 Mustang Sprint Coupe 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Lok '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip '97 Probe GTS 2.5L DOHC Recycle --- Restore a Classic Mustang!

Here in the Philippines, chroming steel is really quite cheap. It's pit metal and plastic that costs big bucks. In light of what Steve says about EPA regs, maybe Mexico is the place to go for chroming. Simon

So, who lives on the border with Mexico that wants to volunteer to offer their services to M&M members...we ship you our parts, you take it across the border to be chromed and then ship it back, and with the money we save we could throw you a nice tip too.
