what are the best ways and products to help with a fading paint/oxidation,besides having the car wet sanded and polished,as soon as winter comes and i put the car up for winter i would like to do something to help bring back the shine and take some minor scratches out. thanks again!

depending on how patient you are, you dont need to wet sand the car. use rubbing compound and hand rub the car out untill the paint feels smooth. then use a polishing compound again hand rubbing it till the paint feels smooth. then use a good was with no cleaners in it to bring out the shine. the reason i say hand rub it is most people do not know how to use a buffer with out burning the paint. i have two friends who are experts in the field.

I don't really want to go against what he says, But I'd stay away from rubbing compound. You can do some damage in a hurry with that stuff. I would first buy a cheep buffer, like the ones at Wal-Mart an orbital one. Then buy a nice 3 step wax system. Step one Cleaner. Step two Polish, Step Three wax. See how this works. Make sure to stay away from sharp corners or other places that you would think the paint would be thinner/easy to remove. Just do those spots by hand. Good luck!

I am biased, but I like the 3M compounding products and Liquid Glass(not 3M) for the polish. 3M has an entire line of products for different situations, and you can call their number 1-800-3M-Helps for more info on their products.
For oxidation, I use the 3M Perfect-it II rubbing compound followed by the, Perfect-it II Finishing material, and then a good coat of Liquid Glass. The rubbing compound is the lightest they have and it works great on light oxidation and is made for hand applications. You can't get in too much trouble with it, but use your head and you will be fine. The Finishing material is great for taking out any swirls left by the first one, and Liquid Glass is my favorite polish. It lasts for a long time and is the best I have found.

Best of luck with the car.
