Why do good deals pop up at the wrong time??? Earlier this year I was considering getting a 69 sportroof/Mach I to add to the stable, but the prices were a bit too high for me($18,000 - $25,000Cdn). My ideal find would have been a sportroof/Mach I with the 351W, 4-speed, shaker, sport slats, front air dam, Magnum 500s and a black interior. I was planning on doing it up as a bit of a 69 Boss 302 clone eventually. Frustrated, I gave up on the car, took a trip overseas, bought rims/tires for the 79, bought a new computer/office setup and started some house upgrades/improvements. Since then my employer (provincial government) has started making serious noises about massive layoffs in an attempt to get the budget under control. Both my wife and I work for them, so we are in a bit of limbo right now (though I am pretty sure we are safe). So, what do I come across today... a 69 sportroof (not sure if it is an original Mach I or not), 351W, 4-speed, orange, shaker, black interior, with factory invoices. Has blacked out hood and 69 Boss 302 style side-stripes, and blacked out headlight buckets... i.e. 69 Boss 302 clone! Asking price is around $9,500US ($14,500Cdn)... right around what I had been prepared to pay back when I was seriously looking!! Aaaaargh!!! This is sooooo frustrating. I know that I could pull it off with some help from the banker, but it would strain the budget at this point, and with the job situation it wouldn't exactly be a safe move. Why am I so responsible??? Why couldn't I just dive in and not worry about the consequences??? Damn all that good sense my parents drilled into me!!! Oh yeah, the car is on the other side of the country too (not really a problem getting there, as I can get cheap airfare)... that would be a fun drive back, as long as I didn't run into winter in the praries. The ad was in French, so I'm not sure if I would even be able to negotiate without someone there to translate. Maybe I'm just greedy wanting two cool Mustangs. Sorry folks, I just had to vent. ------------------ Cheers, Ian M&M Member #395 ------------------- '79 Mustang Indy 500 Pace Car Ian's Pace Car Website Vancouver Island Mustang Association Website Indy Pace Car Registry of Mustangs Official Website "If you get to thinking you are someone of some importance and influence, just try ordering another persons dog around." - Author Unknown [This message has been edited by Gearhead (edited 10-02-2001).]

No problem with your venting. Very nice looking Stang. I'm with you on finding a Mustang when you can least afford it. Been there. Done that. Hang in there and hopefully things will work out for you. Best wishes to you and the missus with the goverment grumblings on cut-backs. Trust me Ian, I know exactly how you feel. That's why I've stopped looking. It really got to be too much for me. Too much torture, especially when I'd find a '69 that, while may not have been perfect, could have been doable...if it weren't for my finances. Stewart
