I'm building a 73 Mach 1 that is a real basket case. The car is wired for idiot lights, but a previous owner installed a tach/guage cluster(gee I wonder if thats why nothing worked?).The plug in the back is different. Is the tach style plug available by itself? Has any body tried cutting down the larger plug(idiot lights) and re-positioning the wires. Any help would be appreciated.

Rich Pajzer wrote a great article on this and it's in our 'Articles' section.' Here's a link:

I did it on my Sprint and it wasn't bad. You have to get a harness plug-in from a parts car. I just had both wiring diagrams handy and swapped the wires over.

Steve, how did it come out? Any problems, or any advice to make the job go better? Don't hear from many who actually perform the transplant!

The problem is the harness plug-in.I've called all over the country and have had no luck. If somebody has the harness, they won't sell it without a guage and tach cluster(and thats huge money).Mustangs are few and far between in the junkyards I've been to locally.
