I purchased these valve covers about 15 years ago. They have lost a lot of the polished aluminum shine that made them so attractive. I tried to use so chrome/aluminum polish but it doesn't look like it will bring the shine back. They seem to have some stains from fuel or chemicals and other than that are just a bit dull looking. Any ideas?

Jaazzy Sounds like the valve covers need to be repolished on a buffing wheel. A buffer will actually remove material, depending on the compound that is used, and it sounds like you have abuild up of oxidation that the chemical+fine abrasive cleaners won't touch.

I was afraid someone was going to say that. I don't think I am qualified to do it myself. What kind of shops usually have the skills to do this sort of work? Thanks.
