About how much gas does a DP suck compared to a vac secondary? I am considering chunking my Edelbrock for a new carb, and want some opinionsThe motor is in my sig, and the car is a daily driver that will visit the track a few weekends each month. Thanks!!!!!!

consider the fact that the double pumper dumps fuel from two accelerator pumps each time you push the throttle down, yes it will consume more fuel than a vacuum secondary carb. how much more depends on your tuning skills. since this is a dual purpose car and considering your set up i would leave the carb you have in place now alone. if you want to try the double pumper then buy one and swap the carbs at the track to race, then swap back to run on the street.

If you don't usually get into the secondaries shouldn't it use the same amount, as both types have primary pumps?

since the double pumper has mechanical secondaries, you open them a bit when you accelerate away from a stop. and depending on how hard you accelerate you will open them as far as 1/2 way without realizing it.

Just remember this, If you're using more fuel and not running too rich, then you are making more Hosspower!! If fuel mileage is a concern, then stay with the Edelbrock or get a Holley vac. secondary.. You can't keep your cake and eat it too, unless you buy an extra one.

Maybe I'll save the money and spend it on a 2-step and a line-lock, or front and rear shocks.------------------ 1965 Coupe, Tremec 3550, Steeda Tri-Ax, Cable Clutch conversion, 3.25 gears, Ford XB3 longblock, x303 heads, B-Cam, 9:1 comp., Ford Racing high-torque starter, Pertronix Ignitor & Flamethrower coil, Accel 8.8mm wires, 600 cfm Edelbrock carb, Edelbrock RPM intake, K&N air, Holley electric fuel pump & AFPR, dual 2-chamber Flowmasters, KYB shocks, 5-leaf springs, Chrome Export Brace, Griffen Radiator, Comp. Disconnect the secondary linkage until you go to the track. Then it will use less than a vacuum unit

I get excellent freeway MPG with the double pumper, same as my vac, 19 MPG. This is without overdrive. City is worse but it varies A LOT depending on my driving. From 10-14. ------------------ -Charlie Ping 1970 Maverick Grabber [email protected] Daily Driver http://www.maverickgrabber.com
