Sounded righteous.Steve, you were right on- couldn't hear the engine over the roar and that was cause for some anxiety. Shut it down after a minute. Big news though is it cranked right over and sounded awesome. Still lots to do before its driveable again. Exhaust is top of the list. Thanks for all the suggestions, advice and tips everyone. More questions to come, I'm sure. JimO

JimO, Congrats on getting your motor to turn over and start the first time! Awesome to see the baby come back to life, isn't it? Now finish her up and get her on the road so that you can enjoy all your hard work! Dave & Terri

Ain't it a great feeling Jim ?? I'll bet you just itching like hell to get her on the road again !!! What did you do, start her with just the headers on ??------------------ Conciousness - that annoying time between naps. Dave-Thanks. Hate to make it sound easy. For me, nothing is. But it did crank right over- exploded to life actually- once I got the distributor planted on the correct TDC Ken- It is one of those key moments and feelings. Can't wait to see what'll do on the road. Yes, just headers. Wasn't ready for the volume. Too anal (and new at this) to relax until I know nothing's clattering or knocking in there. Gonna try to sort the exhaust out today- right after I knock out my honey-do list, which has been sorely neglected this past week. Best- JimO

Congrats Jim!If the cam & lifters are new you'll want to run it at 2000 rpm for 20 minutes while watching vital signs to break in the cam. I did the 351 that way with open headers, and the neighbors we forming a mob. I didn't like that I couldn't hear the motor during its first 20 minutes of life. SteveW
