I just looked at the pair of GT tips I bought a couple of months ago for my 65. Is there a left and right ? they look identical.

If they are for a '65 or '66 Stang, they should be the same.Dave & Terri ------------------ 66 "C" Code Coupe (Sally) MCA#47921 M&M #166

They look the same but are marked with R an L. I know the ones on my car were. I took them off, GT or not!, as I think the baffles are restrictive and choke the exhaust. With the B303 cam in my motor, they made a terrible farting noise at idle. I"m now running beveled tips that are 3"

I have GT Exhaust tips on my 66 and I think they sound good with the Flowmasters... Only problem is with my new motor I am going to have to put in a larger exhaust system, probably 2.5"...(1 7/8" now) Has anyone ever seen a 2.5" or 3" exhaust bent to where it comes out the exhaust ports at the rear of the car? I would think that would fairly restrictive bending it that much. Flowmaster is selling a 2.5 exhaust system that is mandrel bent for early Mustangs. It shouldn't be a problem running it out through the valance. My bevel cut ends are 3" and the extreme end of the GT trumpet is 3"

i am running 2" pipe from the shortie headers all the way back, i used the gt. exhaust tips out the rear valance and just adapted the pipe.realy not musch difference from 2" to 1 7/8.used cherry bomb mufflers for that 60"s sound and sounds great..------------------ ponycar66,have you flown in a ford latley??????? 66-COUPE W/351SVO glad i had a v-8 !!!!!! 84.5 gt350-61 falcon 302 have a great day!!!!!!!!

Here is a trick if you want to keep the GT tips and go to a larger exhaust pipe and get rid of the dinky 1 5/8 id on the standard tips. Also keep in mind that the openings on the trumpets restrict flow, calculate the area of the openings. Anyway, take the stock trumpets and cut the polished ends off just beyond the factory weld, since the trumpets are tapered, cut enough of the taper off so that the trumpet will slip over your new pipes and reweld back on. Then grind the welds down and repolish the tips. I did this on 2 1/2 pipes, it still looked original. Also the Flowmaster mandrel bent exhaust kit is not for the GT valance, but could be made to work. Mike [This message has been edited by kcode (edited 06-09-2001).]
