FloJoe,
Shop around and read up on some articles in Mustang Monthly and Fast Fords & Mustangs. I believe that Mustang Monthly did a recent article on Mustang performance bolt ons. October or November issues. I believe they used an Edelbrock intake and carb with dyno testing. Turned out that they used to large a carb. If you like, I will try to dig the article out this weekend. I can scan it and send it to you via e-mail if you like. Just let me know.

Alot depends on what you are going to use the car for, street only,or strip. If it strictly street, you can't go wrong with an Edelbrock Performer series, Performer RPM or the new Performer RPM AirGap all are dual plane, but each has its particular applications based on the other components in your motor. If its stricly strip, I'll wait and let Alex answer that.

If the engine is stoned stock you can't beat an Edelbrock performer. If you are really bucks down, then whatever you can get used cheap. Alex

Joe,

The stock aluminum intake from a '84/85 5.0 works pretty well on a stocker. Hope you're not trying to beat newer Z-28s, the early 80's z's are no problen tho

Can you send me that same article, I am looking for a good gift for my car and I am shopping for a new intake. I currently am running a Weiand Dual plane, I am thinking of getting an Air Gap Edelbrock RPM. Anyways any help would be nice. Thanks in advance. OH, plus I am thinking of porting the intake manifold for better performance...good or bad idea?

I went from a stock 2bl intake. To the Eldelbrock Rpm,on my stock 351w.Stock heads, High miles motor, headers are the only other add on.Let me tell you that car is not the same at all.It pulls better from off the line to about 5000rpm were it starts to tapper off. With the old 2bl it was good off the line but tapper off really fast.I would gone for the AIR GAP,but it came out right after I got my Rpm.
If you want cheap and I know how you feel I alway make wish lists, look at used manifolds I see them around here for the 289-302,for around $50-$100.

DAVE SIR,How could FL,be mucho frio, what do get into the 60's.
