Is it wise to bore a 289 past .040 for a street car. It is a 2v and I don't want to have overheating problems.

Rob,

I think .060 overbore is fine for a street engine. It'll just be your last rebuild with that block.

The block in Becks convertible is .040 over, just make sure the balance of your cooling system is in top condition.
