I'm going to be reinstalling the sending unit back into the fuel tank after having the tank checked for a small leak. None found under a pressure check but the tank mounting area was soldered as a precautionary measure. Anyone have any installation tips and ideas to keep the gasket in the grove in the tank and from possibily moving and becoming distorted in its grove?? I have a new gasket and mounting ring and am ready to put it back together. Thanks for the help.

you should be fine if you just lube both sides of the gasket with motor oil.

Don't over tighten the retaining ring Sandy. Just a tap or two will suffice. The gasket will do it's job. Alex

I found that a couple of dabs of vasoline on the gasket held it in place while I installed the sending unit. Good Luck

Also, use aluminum or brass to stike the ring, to avoid sparks.
