I believe it's a one-time-use clip, you break it to pull the shaft out, and replace it with a new one.Can anyone back me up on that? Last master cylinder I changed came with a new push rod. But I have pryed them out before with vicegrips, and sucessfully reinserted the push rod with the old clip.

Welcome to M&M C&J ! To answer your question, 9 times out of 10 you must ruin the clip on the rod to get it out of the piston. NAPA does sell the nylon O-ring type clips by the way. Good Morning All, Many thanks for all the kind greetings and for the guidance on master cylinder. Dave and I separated the pushrod from the piston. Never mind how but we did it! Many years ago(when Dave was just a little shaver) we belonged to a Model A Ford club in Ft. Lauderdale. Gold Coast Region of MARC. Still belong to MARC & MAFCA as well as EFV8. M&M reminds me very much of the GC Region in the early days!! Don't change!!! And no riceburners!! Thanks C&J
