Yo Fellas, Has anyone ever seen the "arrowhead F-100" emblem located at the rear and side of the hood of this '65? The seller is claiming it's original......Take a look at it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-F-100-Custom-Cab-Historical-1965-F-100-Long-Bed-Truck_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ39414QQitemZ4605950853QQrdZ1#ebayphotohosting I'm thinking it's been taken from some other model year F100 & added to this '65 rig.....I like it; but I'm not too sure it's original '65 ornamentation. Anyone with knowledge or an opinion on this?

......in fact, when I went back and looked at it closer, I'm thinking that the Custom Cab should have also had the chrome grill. I'm also sure that those are not OEM '65 door mirrors.I'm not buying into his statement: "The truck is all original minus the rims and the am/fm stereo installed in the cab."

The arrowhead style emblem isn't right, that came from another year. But the truck does have most everything that the Custom Cab package included, except the grille should have been bright, not painted------------------ Gary M '70 Mustang 63b SportsRoof '95 Mustang GT coupe and 5 more classic Fords

It looks like a Camper Special. It has the tool box bed and the Custom Cab instrument cluster with extra guages. I see the extra wiring harness where it should be on the right inner fender. I don't know if those mirrors were available in 1965. It's possible they were optional to see around a wider camper shell. I'm pretty sure the grille should have been polished aluminum or chrome. It has the correct 1965 fender emblems (which are not available re-popped). The hood emblems are 1961 / 1962. It has a "granny" 4 speed. The price so far is reasonable.Tracy

Tracy, Good catch on the hood emblem!! I believe that style of hood emblem was placed on '65s, but only on the 6 cylinder models. A '65 352-V8 equipped truck would of had a V8 in the emblem rather than the gear & lightning. I also recall the Custom Cab trucks had the polished aluminum trim (~2" wide) along both sides from the hood, across the door, and all the way down the box..... All-n-all, I still think its a very nice truck! Ryan

Here's a nice example of a sweet red/white '65 with the correct OEM bright grille, correct V8 center hood emblem and the box/door/hood side trim. However, I can't say if those side mirrors were OE or not....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4607106208&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT Damn, I wish my '65 short box looked that nice! I was referring to the emblem on the side of the hood as being '61-'62. I don't have any emblems on my '66 so I forgot about the emblem on the front and the side trim.FYI: The '53-'56 hood emblems were all the gear/kightning bolts. Ford started using the V8 emblem in 1957. Tracy

COOL! THE MYSTERY EMBLEM ON THE SIDE OF THE HOOD HAS BEEN SOLVED!! THANKS, TRACY!!! I didn't know that about '57 being the first year for the V8 hood emblem. It's interesting that they didn't use it when the earlier trucks were equipped with a flat-head V8....... Tracy, Did you look at the red/white EBay ride? Nice, wouldn't ya say? Ryan
