On the 400M, the boss that the oil filter threads on to, is that the same as the Windsor series of engines? I need to get a new one, and have seen those around, but haven't seen one for the 400M. Thanks for the info.Scott

The M is a cleveland family engine.

Yes, it is. They share an oil filter (FL1A) though. And to look at them, the adapters that screw into the block look the same. I just didn't know if anyone knew if they were the same length and thread size on the block end. Thanks.Scott

My 65-72 Ford Master Parts catalog shows D1AZ-6890-A as the adaptor to both the 302 and the 400 up to '72, I would bet it would be the same through all the years for the 400.It shows the part as 3/4" -16 & 1 1/16" -12 male threads, 1 13/64" long shoulder type-attach filter to cylinder block-use with "spin-on" type filter. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '70 Mustang Convertible - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 XL
