I installed a Duraspark II ignition set-up on my 56 F-100. Well, its not firing. I checked for spark at the coil and it only sparks once I release the key. Any idea where I should begin to look?------------------ Dustin C "The Mopar Guy!" 56 F-100 Mech. for wifes 69 Mustang coupe 302 with 69 351W heads and Offy 4bbl intake, C4, Granada disc brakes, Mach 1 springs, Boss 302 sway bar, 8" open 65 Plymouth Barracuda

There are 2 plugs on the DS box,one plug has 2 wires.A red wire and a white wire. One wire is a run and the other is a start.Do you have them both hooked up?? Is your DS box grounded..Cory... ------------------ 68 Fastback 427MR 4 spd.Deluxe interior,8000 tach,140 speedo,am/fm,tilt.

White is to the silonoid and red to the switch. The box is grounded, but I can check it. Its bolted to the cab floor under the seat.------------------ Dustin C "The Mopar Guy!" 56 F-100 Mech. for wifes 69 Mustang coupe 302 with 69 351W heads and Offy 4bbl intake, C4, Granada disc brakes, Mach 1 springs, Boss 302 sway bar, 8" open 65 Plymouth Barracuda

I used the one from Mustang Steve. Now looking at it again, I don't have a wire from the "I" terminal on the relay. Is that just tied into the cable running to the positive post on the coil?------------------ Dustin C "The Mopar Guy!" 56 F-100 Mech. for wifes 69 Mustang coupe 302 with 69 351W heads and Offy 4bbl intake, C4, Granada disc brakes, Mach 1 springs, Boss 302 sway bar, 8" open 65 Plymouth Barracuda

What coil are you using? Did you run a full 12volts to the dura spark box? Did you replace the dist, is it in right,or could it be 180 off? ------------------ oddly obsessed with big scoops on little MustangsHOOD HACKERS DELIGHT! MSD I think so Yes, its not the points dizzy. I installed it exactly like the points type I pulled out. Even if it was 180 out, it should fire from the coil during starting, right?------------------ Dustin C "The Mopar Guy!" 56 F-100 Mech. for wifes 69 Mustang coupe 302 with 69 351W heads and Offy 4bbl intake, C4, Granada disc brakes, Mach 1 springs, Boss 302 sway bar, 8" open 65 Plymouth Barracuda

If it was 180 out it would backfire up the carb. Make sure you have a full 12v from the primary wire when you turn the key to start. Was it a new box,or used?

Ok Mike so I was reaching alittle. Go back over your wiring if it's all done right. Then you should 12 volts while cranking and in run at the coil and box. Check both of those first. If so and the coil isn't putting out a spark tr another coil.------------------ oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs HOOD HACKERS DELIGHT! My Pics
