can I put a 1971 mustang 9 inch under a 88 ranger with a 7.5? I think the 9 is longer and I see the shocks will need to be remounted. Has anyone done this? Thanks ron

At the least you'll need to move the spring perches, because a truck has the leafs under the housing while a car has them underneath.

Why not see if you can get an 8.8 from an Explorer? It might be a direct bolt in,with disc brakes too boot!

Actually the Exploder mounts the springs below too. You can get an 8.8 in a Ranger, look for one with a 4.0L V6. The 71 Mustang rear is 5 inches wider than the Ranger, you'd have to narrow it or use wheels like fronts on a duallie.

TomP,can you just use the Explorer springs with the axle,or is there a way to mount it up?
