I working on a 1983 f350 with a 460.
can anyone tell me what the initial timing should be.
and how much total advance it should have?

I think it has vacuum issues and it's not getting full advance ( via vacuum advance).

Also If I have vacuum issues would that effect the vacuum secondaries on the carb too. how do I test if the secondaries are opening??

Its really running terrible.

thanks.

Sorry for the late post. The earliest Chilton I have is 1987,and it says 8 degrees initial. There's nothing on total timing. There should be an emmissions sticker on the radiator support,or the firewall with that info. Ususally total timing is in the area of 32-37 degrees.
