I just registered on this forum, and I'm hoping that I'm in the right place to ask some questions about a truck that I'm researching.A friend of mine has been researching the history of the Galaxie lightweight cars (especially those on the east coast), and came across some really sparse info on a '63 F100XL unibody with a factory 427, Galaxie bucket seats, and a few other oddball details. I've been digging around for the last year, and have found that at least one of these trucks was raced by Jack Whitby's Friendly Ford in Delaware (I don't know how many trucks were built). I have also been told that the Whitby truck was actually originally given to a dealership in Detroit owned by Stu Wilson. I do have a picture of the Whitby truck, although I'm not sure how to post pictures on this board. If anyone has any information about this or any of the other F100XL trucks, or if you could point me in the direction of anyone who might, I'd really appreciate it. I'd like to find out more details about the truck itself, how many were built, what dealerships they ran out of, what times they ran, if any are still known to exist, etc. Thanks a lot! Curt

Welcome to M&M Curt. ! You will find us to be a true blue and fun group. As far as I know, there were two, MAYBE three of these trucks built. One east and one west coast.I have some pics of one for sure. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 First SS/MA in the TENS! Thanks for the greeting, Moneymaker! If you do have some pictures of any of those trucks, would you be able to email them to me at [email protected]?Just to give a little bit more background, a buddy of mine is building a SOHC for a '64 Galaxie lightweight car (NOT a factory lightweight). I have been into building kustom cars for several years, and I'm currently working on a 1949 Ford coupe with a 302. However, I became interested in the unibody trucks recently and between my interest in those trucks and spending too much time around that Galaxie, I wound up here. I'm looking forward to learning some stuff from the info posted here, about the trucks and otherwise. Anyway, thanks again! Curt

Didn't someone post a pic of one of those awhile back? I know I've seen it here.

CurtI have never seen any published info on those, but being that you are close to Delaware it may be worthwhile to seek out some the older Jack Whitby crew and find out firsthand what the story on their truck was. [This message has been edited by TomP (edited 01-07-2004).]

TomP - I actually just tracked down an article about the truck in an old issue of Popular Hot Rodding. I ordered the issue and it should be here next week, so I'll post any new info that I can find. As far as Jack Whitby goes, I wasn't able to get any information on the dealership through the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, and since it isn't around anymore I'm kind of at a dead end as far as that goes.I'll post more info as I get it. Thanks! Curt
