I have a 83 F250 4X4 and the tach doesn't work. It had a mallory dual point distributor and now it has a DUI dist.[351W].The person I got it from said it worked breifly and quit. Could I get the tach fixed? If so where? Or get another inst. cluster and which years will work? My new dist. does not have a resister. I also gained almost 2 more mpg with new dist.
Thanks
Ricky Lynn

Maybe you could get info from DUI. I put an MSD system in my car,and had to do a few things for the tach to work.

You can use a clustewr from up to 86. I would still contact DUI to see if it's wired up correctly. My MSD unit said in the directions it will fry all test equipment/tachs if not wired properly. They go off the trigger wire, not from the coil.

MLariviere: Well I went to the ford dealer and borrowed thier service manual. There is a fuse that supplies 12V for the tach, seat belt light and brake light. Changed the fuse now it works. Maybe this will help someone else.
thanks for the help
