i've looked in several books to decode my trucks VIN #. it has 11 numbers the books only go down to 13. its a 78 F-150 4*4.any help?

thanks, i decoded the fire wall tag now the sticker on the door jam has no #'s on it to check axles or trans any help there?

If your rear axle still has the tag on it, we can decode that. Is your transmission an automatic? If so, it's a C6, that's easy.

no tag on either diff. i think the rear is a 9inch the front i'm told is a dana 60

also it was an auto i swapped the 351 for a 360/w manual it took some modifing but its in and works good

The rear is a 9" while the front is a Dana 44. That is unless it was changed to a 3/4 or 1 ton axle. It would have 8 lugs then on the hubs rather than 5.
