Got a 90 F350 that is kinda lazy but just encountered a bigger problem. Was towing this weekend on interstate running along about 75 mph for about 25 min. then came up on a wreck was in backed up traffic for about 4 miles bearley creeping along then it happened. Started loosing cyls. just like plugs fouling then finally quit restarted it numerous times then limped off the ramp and sit for a while and let it cool down (note engine is NOT running hot) started back up and ran pretty good about 15 miles to track. Started home 2 days later and started loosing power again but was not in traffic jam pulled off for about 20 min. started up and made it home but kinda sluggish. Whats kinda strange is that my check eng. lite goes off and on but when this starts it goes out any suggestions?

I'm not into oil burners, but how is your fuel filter? Those diesels live and die by those, don't they?

Is it a diesel? If not,put a code scanner on it. I would guess the oxygen sensor went bad.

My buddy suggests the barometric pressure sensor, or even the cat converter.
